1928 - The Beginning

In 1928 AFGO gets its start as a one-man operation. Blaine and Glenn’s granddad, Eddie, opens a car radiator repair shop, called Central Auto Radiator, on Thompson Avenue in Long Island City, Queens, New York.

1954

Blaine and Glenn’s father, Harvey, takes over and expands the Long Island City business by opening a new division called Berdell Industries. Not only repairing car radiators, but air conditioning coils as well. Apparently, enterprise is in the Udell’s blood!

1985

Berdell branches out exploring opportunities in the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning industry. Harvey retires and Glenn joins Berdell, expanding it from a one man pop shop, to a larger organization.

1987

Glenn‘s brother Blaine joins the Berdell Industries team. The two begin manufacturing heat transfer equipment, including; HVAC coils, shell & tube heat exchangers, tube bundles & generator coolers.  Berdell expands to a full fledge enterprise with over 100 employees.

End of the decade

Berdell establishes a world wide team of manufacturers representatives selling to Fortune 500 Companies and flourishes, offering versatile heat transfer solutions.

1995

The Udell brothers form AFGO Mechanical Services, Inc., and begin to install replacement units, as well as new installations throughout the New York City area.

At the same time they successfully formed a full HVAC service department offering 24/7 service & maintenance to their clients.

2012

AFGO embarks on a technology implementation. AFGO technicians are equipped with state-of-the-art handheld mobile devices.

In addition, computerized reporting software was installed for faster service as well as precise analysis regarding their customers systems.

2013 - Present

In 2013, AFGO thrives as one of the leading HVAC service and installation companies within the New York Metropolitan area with one of the city‘s largest fleets of inventoried vehicles.
